6th Annual Construction Career Awareness Day in Northern California Hosts 1,349 Students from Nine Counties
CCCC Member, the Associated General Contractors of California and its non-profit education/work force development affiliate, the California Construction Education and Research Foundation hosted the largest Construction Career Awareness Day in California with 1,349 students attending from nine counties surrounding the Sacramento region. On March 29th, Teichert Construction opened its yard as the co-host of the event. Students were given the opportunity to actually operate heavy equipment in an arena, visit with industry exhibitors and watch 300 of their peers compete in a design/build competition.
Students took home a parent permission form for career information exchange form. Those with signed forms received hand stamps which allowed exhibitors to sign students up for follow information and job interviews. 399 0f the 1,349 students signed up with employer exhibitors. That's 29.5%
Also, State Senator Jack Scott, authored SCR102, a concurrent resolution honoring March 29th, 2006 as Construction Career Awareness Day in Northern California.
This was a first and we are grateful for the recognition.
Assemblyman Roger Niello presented Teichert CEO Doug Urbick with a Certificate of Recognition and Appreciation for co-hosting the event.
